It's been busy on the farm. We picked a few bush beans and today got our first zucchini! Very thankful for how God has blessed the garden. Already getting some produce and it's only been a month and a half.
Our biggest challenge has been horn worms. Using the back to Eden method, woodchips, has made gardening so easy. We have watered one time since mulching.
Shaun did some inquiry about pruning the plum tree. We were thinking Fall but turns out June and July are the best times to prune plum trees to minimize infection. We used limbs from the pruning and twine to make tomato trellis.
Most of the limbs/brush will be used in the fire pit. Our family loves bonfires. Shaun built our fire pit from stone found on the farm.
As for livestock, we found a hatchery located in Missouri. We are still learning about the type of chickens we want. Definitely want Wyandotte, a duel purpose chicken, for eggs and meat. I think we will start with two breeds, the other being a meat chicken. I love making chicken bone broth weekly. Will be amazing to have our own birds in the freezer.
Until next time...here are some snapshots of our garden.
