How to Make Homemade Hot Chocolate

All day has been bitterly cold, rainy and icy! (The stay in your pajamas kind of day) I've had my limit of hot tea and need a cuppa something HOT! The day before we were at TJ Maxx checking out their food isle and yay for us we scored a can of organic cacao.

Our family loves a pot of hot chocolate simmering on the stove!

To make this yummy cup of goodness you will need water, a pure cacao powder (pure meaning the only ingredient is cacao), whole fat milk, your choice of sweetener, and grass-fed butter. For us, we like to use organic coconut sugar. It has minerals and nutrients not found in cane sugar.

Honey or maple syrup works great too.

Directions:

  • Bring 8 cups of water to a slow boil.

  • Stir in 3-4 Tablespoons of cacao powder.

  • Whisk in 2 cups of whole fat milk.

  • Add 1 Tablespoon grass-fed butter

  • Add 4 Tablespoons coconut sugar

  • Reduce heat to simmer and enjoy a cup

The perfect cup of hot chocolate, both creamy and sweet! To cool it down for the boys I added extra milk to their cup. They also like it sweeter than I, of course, and added extra coconut sugar to their cup.

Cozying up with a hot cup of chocolate was a satisfying way to end the cold dreary day.

Thanks for reading. Until next time, blessings to you!
